It depends on the type of camera. For point-and-shoot cameras, Canon is one of the most well loved brands.
I own three Canons, they all work well and I prefer them to akin models from Nikon, Casio, Panasonic, and Samsung. I did a lot of research before purchasing, but personal taste is also a factor.
I would avoid Kodak, Polaroid and off-brands.
For a large, expensive DSLR, get a Nikon.
For a point-and-shoot everywhere price is no object, get a Leica.
In the entire line of cameras I’d urge Canon over all of them because of fine build, their attention to detail and longevity (how the last over time).
I agree avoid off brands like Kodak and the rest. Canon or Nikon are fine choices in any case of model.
There is no Best Brand of camera. Some brands tend to be more well loved, but, that does not mean they are better. Nikon and Canon tend to more well loved overall. Well loved does not copy better, just question GM about that. Companies that tend to produce higher quality images are camera/imaging companies. Stick with brands like Olympus, Sigma, Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Leica, Agfa, etc. These companies focus on cameras and the quality of lenses tends to be higher. What is best becomes a matter of opinion very quick. I can match Nikon, Canon, Sony or others in image quality with my Olympus camera. My camera is also smaller and lighter making it what was best for me, a more portable camera that takes professional quality images.
